The NFL rule change moving extra points back to the 15-yard line is both layered, Suisham recently said, and has nothing to do with him, other than that he has to make the kicks. The veteran said it’s too soon to tell how the rule change will affect him and he doesn’t know how HC Mike Tomlin will approach the play. Extra points will be 33-yard kicks with the change, and Suisham is a career 64-of-77 kicker from 30-39-yard range. Of the 13 misses from that range in his 10-year career, only four of those came in his five years with Pittsburgh. Said Suisham, when asked if he thought the new rule made kickers more or less valuable: “I guess it depends on whether you make your kicks or not. Hopefully more valuable. ...” Meanwhile, over the past three years, Suisham has an accuracy percentage above 90 on field-goal attempts and holds the team record for the highest career accuracy with the club.
