Waiver Wire Targets 2018 Week 14

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal Alright folks, most leagues begin their playoffs this week, so hopefully you survived the season and are headed to your league’s post season. As I have done throughout the season, I will point out some players that could help your team and/or be serviceable if you need the help. Below I will go over some players who fit that category and are still likely available in your leagues.

Quarterback

Josh Allen – Bills: Allen has multiple touchdowns in back-to-back games and displayed his ability to use his legs over the last two games, with at least 99 rushing yards in each of those contests. The Bills have a favorable schedule down the stretch, matchups which Allen should be able to strive in. If you are headed to the playoffs and do not have yourself is trustworthy quarterback, Allen could be of help.

Others to consider: Lamar Jackson - Ravens

Running Back

Jaylen Samuels – Steelers: James Conner has already been ruled out for Week 14, so Samuels should see an increased workload this week against the Raiders which is a great matchup. The Steelers intend to run a running back by committee according to reports, but this matchup is just too juicy to ignore and Samuels has upside. Stevan Ridley could also see some work this week and he too should be considered off of the waivers this week. If I am picking between the two, it is Samuels, as I want the upside.

Jeff Wilson – 49ers: Wilson is expected to see a significant role this week with Matt Breida out. Last week, Wilson rushed for 61 yards on 15 carries and also caught eight passes for 73 yards. If he has another good outing, he could make a case for a bigger role down the stretch. I am prioritizing him ahead of Samuels as there is more clarity on the usage for Wilson, but both should be considered priorities off of the waivers this week.

Others to consider: Justin Jackson – Chargers, Rex Burkhead – Patriots, Rashaad Penny - Seahawks

Wide Receiver

Adam Humphries– Buccaneers: Humphries remains available in over 50 percent of ESPN leagues and that should not be the case. He has been a consistent and reliable receiver just about every week since returning to from the bye, but especially in recent weeks. In his last six games, he is averaging 5.5 receptions, 64.3 receiving yards, and 17.1 fantasy points per game, while scoring five touchdowns. He should be owned in most formats at this time, as well as his teammate Chris Godwin.

Antonio Callaway – Browns: Callaway has at least 50 receiving yards in three of his last four games and has scored one touchdown during that stretch. He and Baker Mayfield appear to be in sync and with a couple of favorable matchups in the upcoming weeks, Callaway could continue to produce solid numbers for fantasy owners. I am not considering him a priority over the running backs or any of the Bucs receivers, but in deeper leagues for those in need of a pass catcher, Callaway could be useful.

Others to consider: Dante Pettis – 49ers, Chris Conley – Chiefs, Bruce Ellington – Lions, Josh Reynolds - Rams

Tight End

C.J. Uzomah - Bengals: Despite the lack of efficiency, Uzomah has been peppered with 19 targets in the last two games and now that A.J. Green will be sidelined for the season, Uzomah could continue to see heavy volume in the passing game. He has at least five catches in each of his last two games, but has failed to eclipse 40 yards in any of them. The Bengals draw some favorable matchups for tight ends in the next couple of weeks, so Uzomah is definitely intriguing.

Others to consider: Ian Thomas – Panthers, Rhett Ellison – Giants
