Unfortunately, injuries are part of Football and pretty much every week, players go down. This week was no different. At times, some of the injuries are minor, while at others it can impact a player for multiple weeks, and even for the entire season.

Fantasy owners who lost players that are expected to miss significant time, adjustments need to be made, and the waiver wire will be your best friend.

With that said, let’s take a look at some of this week’s injuries and the impact of the injury.

Jay Ajayi – Eagles: Ajayi missed a few snaps with what was considered a knee injury, but was able to return to the game. However, on Monday it was reported that he will miss the remainder of the season with a torn ACL. He is expected to undergo surgery on Thursday of this week. This is a big blow for Ajayi who was in a contract year and the Eagles. With Corey Clement (quad) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) also battling injuries, Philadelphia could lean on Wendell Smallwood for the time being. Josh Adams is the only other healthy back on this offense. Both should be added off of waivers this week. Wishing Ajayi a speedy and healthy recovery.

Matt Breida – 49ers: Breida suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. An MRI on Monday revealed a mid-ankle sprain, so it appears that he avoided a major injury. While his status is in question for Week 6, he has not been ruled out yet, which is positive news. Should he miss any time, Alfred Morris will likely receive a heavy workload, with Raheem Mostert working as his backup.

Corey Grant – Jaguars: the Jaguars lost running back Grant for the season after he suffered a Lisfranc injury. He has already been placed on the injured reserve, and with Leonard Fournette (hamstring) also ruled out for Week 6, T.J. Yeldon will receive all the work he can handle out of the backfield.

Kerryon Johnson – Lions: Johnson left late in Sunday’s game against the Packers with an ankle injury and did not return. After the game, he said that if he needed to go back in, he could have. The Lions had a healthy lead, so there was really no need to put Johnson back on the field. At this point it does not appear that the injury will keep him off of the field, but it is something worth keeping an eye on. The Lions are on a bye this upcoming week, which gives him some time to rest his ankle.

Cooper Kupp/Brandin Cooks – Rams: Kupp and Cooks suffered a concussion in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks and neither of the two returned to the game. Kupp was having himself a game, catching six passes for 90 yards and a touchdown, prior to the injury and Cooks was held without a catch. Both of them would need to clear the league’s concussion protocol before being able to play again. Robert Woods will work as the Rams No. 1 receiver, should Kupp and Cooks miss any time.

Rashard Higgins – Browns: Higgins sprained his MCL against the Ravens and is expected to miss at least two games. The Browns are thin at receiver and it would not be surprising to see them add one soon. For now, they will likely be forced to give Antonio Callaway more opportunities.
