Week 7 Main Slate (10 Games)

Quarterbacks

Joe Flacco vs. Saints ($5,400)

Joe Flacco is all of a sudden “elite” (i’m kidding) which, is another testament of the league becoming pass happy. He also has more weaponry at his disposal then he’s had in a while. He’ll get a Saints pass defense that is ranked 30th in the league giving up 297 yards per game. Vegas has the Saints/Ravens game pegged at a 49.5 point total with a close spread (Baltimore -2.5). He hasn’t played at home since week 3 and has had a tough passing schedule thus far. He’s a safe cash game play based on cost and matchup.

Mitchell Trubisky vs. Patriots ($5,600)

Mitch Trubisky has been a fantasy stud over the past two weeks throwing nine touchdowns with just one interception. Week 7 he’ll get the Patriots who are a middle of the road at best pass defense at home in another game that Las Vegas projects to be a potential shoot out. Trubisky has served as a fine fantasy quarterback so far and while he’s been somewhat inconsistent he makes for a spectacular tournament play. He’s averaging 23.4 DraftKings points per game so far this season. It makes sense to stack this game using Tarik Cohen, Trey Burton, Taylor Gabriel or Allen Robinson with Trubisky.

Running backs

Duke Johnson @ Buccaneers ($4,000)

It should be noted that Duke Johnson was a top-12 fantasy running back a season ago in PPR formats. With Carlos Hyde Departing it leaves Johnson and rookie Nick Chubb to shoulder the load in the Browns back field. Week 6 we caught a glimpse of what Johnson can do in the running game and primarily the passing game. More and more we are seeing each NFL team utilize players like Johnson in the passing game. Despite only playing less than half of the Browns offensive snaps he still led the team in rushing. I view an expanded role coming real soon. He is a salary saver against a Buccaneers defense that is among the leagues worst.

Kerryon Johnson @ Dolphins ($4,500)

Is Matt Patricia ever going to unleash Kerryon Johnson? He has brought the Patriots committee backfield approach with him to Detroit so far in 2018 which has Johnson hopefuls begging the question why. Theo Riddick has been ruled out week 7 and that could create more opportunities for the talented rookie. He gets a dream match up against a Dolphins team that is allowing 118 yards per game on the ground. It would be nice to see Johnson’s role expanded in the passing game going forward and week 7 could be his coming out party. His role seems undefined and game script based but his cost is minimal and should get the ball 15+ times. Use him in tournaments.

Wide Receivers

Marquise Goodwin vs. Rams ($4,600)

Heading into 2018 it was going to be exciting to see Marquise Goodwin play with Jimmy Garoppolo but we know how that song quick went. Goodwin commanded 24% of Jimmy G’s targets in 2017 and was a key component in the contract Garoppolo received. Battling injuries Goodwin had his coming out party a week ago catching 4-of-5 targets for 126 yards and two touchdowns. He’ll get the Rams Banged up secondary week 7 at home in a game where the Niners should be playing from behind. The Niners lack weapons making Goodwin a focal point in an their anemic offense. He is my favorite tournament play on the slate.

Taylor Gabriel vs. Patriots ($4,700)

Taylor Gabriel has caught 12-of-12 targets over the last two weeks and it makes little sense to get off of him now. Gabriel is developing a rapport with Mitchell Trubisky and becoming his favorite target. He wont see coverage from Stephon Gilmore this week making him likely to be able to feast against an otherwise poor Patriots secondary.

Tight End

Kyle Rudolph @ Jets ($3,900)

The “Sea of mediocrity” as I like to say seems to deepen by the week. Any time we can get Kyle Rudolph sub $4,000 it is worth while. If we get ten points out of our tight ends each week then we are usually content. Rudolph has had five targets or more in five straight weeks. He is about as dependable as any tight end at this point in time. The Jets are an atrocious pass defense and Kirk Cousins should exploit them. I’ll say it here, Rudolph finds the end zone week 7.

Defense/Special teams

Ravens vs. Saints ($2,400)

Many people will be afraid to use the Ravens defense this week against the potent Saints offense but they are a unit that has been stellar against the run and pass. Fresh off an 11 sack week 6 it’s tough to jump ship for the price. Count me in.
