College Fantasy Football Sleepers Week 7 2017
By John Laub
College Fantasy Football
The Scholar’s Surreptitious Starters
Ryan Finley, North Carolina State at Pittsburgh: O/U 54
Ownership Percentage: 43%
Ryan Finley’s 1,770 yards passing rank tenth in the FBS, and he is completing over 70% of his passes, which is the ninth-best in the nation. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound junior has eclipsed 300 yards passing three times and tossed multiple touchdowns in three games. Both totals are within reach against a Panthers’ pass defense that has surrendered over 280 yards per game and 13 aerial strikes.
Nick Stevens, Colorado State vs. Nevada: O/U 62
Ownership Percentage: 28%
Senior Nick Stevens is on pace to set career highs in every major passing category and likely to continue his stupendous season against the Wolf Pack. The Nevada pass defense has allowed over 300 yards passing per game and yielded 16 touchdowns. Nevada will not be able to slow down the WR trio of Michael Gallup, Detrich Clark and Olabisi Johnson, and Stevens completes at least three touchdowns at home.
Logan Marchi, Temple vs. UConn: O/U 58.5
Ownership Percentage: 1%
There is no reason to discontinue picking up and inserting quarterbacks into fantasy lineups competing against the Huskies’ defense. Logan Marchi, a sophomore, took over the reigns of the Owls’ offense this season and has performed much better than expected. Over the last two games, he has passed for 502 yards and three touchdowns. Once again, UConn’s defense will permit over 300 yards passing and at least three touchdowns.
Dontrell Hilliard, Tulane at Florida International: O/U 50
Ownership Percentage: 40%
A run-heavy offense, the Green Wave relies on their senior ball carrier to move the chains. Hilliard ranks among the top 25 ball carries in the nation with 517 rushing yards on 78 carries, averaging 6.6 YPC. He has scored over 19 fantasy points in four of five games this year and should find plenty of holes in the Golden Panthers’ run defense, which permits over 170 yards per game on the ground. Insert Hilliard into lineups with confidence this weekend.
Soso Jamabo, UCLA at Arizona: O/U 78
Ownership Percentage: 10%
College fantasy footballers are going to examine the quarterbacks and pass catchers in this PAC-12 contest. Similarly, Soso Jamabo will be overlooked. Earlier in the season, the junior ball carrier missed consecutive games. He returned two weeks ago against Stanford, and he has rushed for 170 yards on 33 carries and scored twice over the last two contests. On Saturday, Jamabo exceeds 80 yards rushing and reaches the end zone twice against the Wildcats.
Jordan Wilkins, Mississippi vs. Vanderbilt: O/U 56
Ownership Percentage: 1%
The Rebels have given Jordan Wilkins more carries each week (8, 9, 11, 12 & 13), and the senior has taken advantage of the opportunities. Wilkins averages 5.3 YPC and leads the team in rushing with 269 yards. A good pass catcher, he has 17 receptions for 133 yards. After consecutive losses on the road to Auburn and Alabama, Mississippi will dominate Vanderbilt at home. The Commodores are ranked #126 against the run, and Wilkins will garner a season-high in carries.
Jordan Lasley, UCLA at Arizona: O/U 78
Ownership Percentage: 47%
All astute college fantasy footballers covet a piece of the Bruins’ offense against the Wildcats. While WR Darren Andrews is owned in 94% of leagues, Lasley remains on the waiver wire in many. Over the last three games, the junior receiver has 22 catches for 366 yards and two touchdowns. QB Josh Rosen is on fire with 2,135 passing yards and 17 touchdowns, and without TE Caleb Wilson, Lasley will be peppered with targets.
Dez Fitzpatrick, Louisville vs. Boston College: O/U 55.5
Ownership Percentage: 38%
Without Jaylen Smith in the lineup, Dez Fitzpatrick has become the go-to guy in the Louisville aerial attack. Over the last three games, the freshman has corralled 16 passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns. A big target at 6-foot-2 and 208 pounds, Fitzpatrick excels on crossing routes and stretches the field. He is still available in far too many leagues and well worth acquiring this week.
Andre Levrone, Virginia at North Carolina: O/U 49
Ownership Percentage: 23%
College fantasy footballers are ignoring the Cavaliers passing game this season. QB Kurt Benkert averages over 24 fantasy points per game, and Virginia’s receivers are clearly benefiting. A home run hitter, senior Andre Levrone averages 25.1 YPC and leads the team in receiving yards with 377. The Cavaliers have scored 28 or more points in four of five games and likely to score four touchdowns versus the one-win Tar Heels.
