The Facts: Following up on the ongoing story. ... Murray has returned to Instagram and reposted a bevy of his Cardinals photos among the 371 total on his K1 account Tuesday. It's the latest move in the star quarterback's social media watch after Murray's scrubbed his account of in-game photos with his Arizona teammates and in his Cardinals uniform one month ago.
Diehards Line:
Murray's social media scrub caused an stir in the media about his relationship with the Cardinals thereafter. Many had speculated his actions to be a strong-arm attempt for a lucrative contract extension entering the fourth season of his rookie deal. The Cardinals poked fun at the situation in response to Murray's scrub-and-snub by scrubbing the team's own Instagram account and followed him on Instagram five days later, and released a statement supporting Murray star on Feb. 13. Two weeks later, the speculators about Murray's potential contract extension demands were vindicated by Murray's agent Erik Burkhardt when he tweeted a lengthy statement about his client's demands. The final paragraph in Burkhardt's letter said. “Actions speak much louder than words in this volatile business," putting the ball in the Cardinals court to decide how they will move forward with Murray. Following Tuesday's blockbuster trade of Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos, Burkhardt tweeted again about the importance of an organization's commitment to a franchise quarterback in order to compete for championships. This can all be avoided if the Cardinals simply pay Murray. As Burkhardt tweeted on Tuesday after news surfaced of the trade that will send Russell Wilson from Seattle to Denver, “Again, you either have a franchise QB, or you don’t. And if you don’t, none of the other pieces matter much in the end.” The Cardinals have a franchise quarterback. He wants to be paid franchise-quarterback money. Will the Cardinals do it? We'll see.
