The Facts: The Lions have agreed to terms on a 5-year deal with Rams Director of College Scouting Brad Holmes as their new GM, according to multiple reports.
Diehards Line:It's a meteoric rise for Holmes. Under the radar nationally until this year, Holmes was a finalist in Atlanta and Detroit. His interview with the Lions sealed the deal, and they quickly moved to lock him up yesterday after meeting in person. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Lions get the general manager they wanted. ... And the Rams now will become the first team to receive two third-round compensatory draft picks as part of the NFL's new hiring initiatives. The first order of business for Holmes will be hiring a head coach. Then he has big decisions to make on free agents Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, among others. He'll also likely have to decide whether Matthew Stafford remains a Lion or if it's time to move on.
