The Facts: Mostert has requested a trade from the 49ers.
Diehards Line:
The announcement came from Mostert's agent, who advised us via Twitter: "After months of unproductive talks with the 49ers about fairly adjusting Mostert's contract (which paid him for special teams) we have requested a trade. Disappointing that it would come to this for a guy who led all NFL RBs in YPC & helped lead them to the Super Bowl. ..." Of course, Mostert has spent time with seven teams over his five NFL seasons, but he has only 178 regular-season carries to show for it. And this year, he was expecting something different. A bigger role. And apparently more money. The three-year deal that Mostert signed with the 49ers before last season is set to pay him a base salary of $2.575 million this year. Tevin Coleman, Jeff Wilson and (a possibly-healthy) Jerick McKinnon (Matt Breida was traded to Miami) are next men up although the odds the Niners move him seem slim at the moment. ... Stay tuned.
