The Facts: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on a conference call Thursday said the plan is start training camp on time and “get ready for games at our stadiums and to engage our fans both in stadiums and through our media partners.”
Diehards Line:
Talks are ongoing with NFLPA to decide the specific, but NFL Executive Vice President Jeff Pash said teams have been advised that training camps are expected to open "on the normal schedule." That means a July 28 opening, although there's clearly some Covid-related hurdles to clear in advance of that. NFL Chief Doctor Allen Sills said, "We're setting up a very ambitious testing program.” He added that "testing alone will not be sufficient to keep everyone healthy. It’s vitally important to keep social distances and use masks when possible. ..." But make no mistake: The NFL is planning to play.
