The Facts: Mayfield is taking matters into his own hands to get 2020 started off on the right foot. With the Browns unable to practice at their facility until at least May 29, Mayfield has invited teammates to his hometown of Austin, Texas to get a jump on the season. David Njoku, Rashard Higgins, Damion Ratley and a few other teammates have taken him up on his offer.
Diehards Line:Higgins told cleveland.com recently that he planned to work out with Mayfield this offseason, and he tweeted Wednesday that he was in Austin. Njoku was seen in Austin on Instagram, and others have joined them. On Wednesday the NFL extended the virtual part of the offseason program through at least May 29, and the program ends on June 26, meaning the Browns might not practice in Berea much or at all until training camp. Mayfield is eager to return to the Browns facility as soon as possible. “I’m really excited," he told the Browns’ radio network last week. “It’s kind of driving me crazy that we’re not able to get there and all be together. It’s for the better of everyone, for their health and safety, But yeah … we’ll be really ready to get back to work. I know everybody else is. That’s just the mentality of the guys so far. You can tell."
