The Facts: As NFL.com put it, "There was no holdout and little drama. ..." Jones trusted in owner Arthur Blank's word that the game-changing wide receiver would get a new contract. And on Saturday, the Falcons officially announed that Jones has agreed to terms with the team on a new contract extension. It's a three-year deal worth $66 million. The $22 million per season makes Jones the highest-paid receiver in the game he reportedly gets $64 million guaranteed.
Diehards Line:
And here's why. ... Jones, the sixth-overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, has been nothing short of spectacular since entering the league. A two-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler, Jones, 30, has established himself as one of the premier receivers in NFL history. Through eight seasons, Jones has caught 698 passes for 10,731 yards and 51 touchdowns. In 2018, Jones became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 10,000 career receiving yards, achieving that milestone in his 104st career game, 11 fewer than former Lions receiver Calvin Johnson, who previously held the record. And now he'll continue to get the job done for the Falcons and fantasy owners.
