The Facts: Henry is dealing with a lower-leg injury, HC Mike Vrabel confirmed after training camp practice Sunday. The fourth-year running back suffered the injury early Friday, the first day of camp, before he was able to get in the flow of things. Vrabel didn’t seem overly concerned Friday, when he said Henry and wide receiver A.J. Brown were “basically day to day.” He amended that Sunday, when he said he wouldn’t place a timetable on Henry’s return.
Diehards Line:According to Tennessean staffer Erik Bacharach, that was more an extension of Vrabel’s philosophy when it comes to divulging information related to player injuries than anything specific to Henry, though. As such, Bacharach contends that “no timetable for return” shouldn’t cue the panic button. For a Titans team that will lean heavily on Henry to continue to be the workhorse he was at the end of last season, a better-safe-than-sorry approach is wise. Henry’s absence opens the door for more reps for other running backs looking to make their case for a spot on the 53-man roster. Dion Lewis still should be an important X-factor as the team’s No. 2 back. David Fluellen, who has added weight this offseason and has lined up as a fullback, is valued for his versatility and is a solid piece on special teams. But Fluellen is still not quite a lock for the No. 3 spot; he will have Alex Barnes, Dalyn Dawkins and Jeremy McNichols chasing him as training camp rolls on. ... Stay tuned. We'll follow up as needed.
