The Facts: Njoku has lofty goals for the 2019 season. “Honestly speaking, I don’t really put numbers into my goals,” Njoku said on the Rich Eisen Show on Tuesday. “I just feel like if I gave everything I could to the game, just worked my hardest, I feel like I’ll feel accomplished.” Then he couldn’t help himself. “With that being said, I want 20 touchdowns this year," he said, laughing while Eisen goaded him on.
Diehards Line:
As Plain Dealer staffer Dan Labbe reported, hyperbole aside -- Antonio Brown led the league with 15 receiving touchdowns in 2018 while Eric Ebron’s 13 were the most among tight ends -- Njoku is excited about the potential of the Browns’ offense. “With (Odell Beckham Jr.), Jarvis (Landry), (Antonio) Callaway, (Rashard) Higgins, Duke (Johnson), Kareem (Hunt), Nick (Chubb), I could go on for days,” he said, “we have a great offense and I’m not even talking about the defense. Defense, we’re stacked, too.” And that, ultimately, might be the thing that works against Njoku.
