The Facts: Elliott took a pounding last season, carrying the ball 43 more times than any other NFL player. He also set a career-high with 77 receptions, fifth-most among all backs. But when asked Wednesday about the team managing his carries so he doesn't get worn down, Elliott provided a brief one-sentence response. "I haven't worn down yet," he said.
Diehards Line:
The two-time rushing champ will turn 24 in July. Judging by his brief answers, he's not too worried about a new contract getting done this year, either. "I'm not concerned," Elliott said, before adding that he plans to deal with the outside contract noise by simply playing football. "Do what I've been doing." Elliott has two years remaining on his rookie contract. But Todd Gurley, the NFL's highest-paid running back, had two years remaining on his rookie deal when he signed his record-setting four-year, $57.5 million contract with $45 million guaranteed last July. As for mitigating his workload, the Cowboys drafted running backs Tony Pollard and Mike Weber last month to help carry some of that load this season. We'll see if that actually comes to pass. We're not banking on it.
