The Facts: New HC Adam Gase has spent the past seven weeks evaluating last season's tape, figuring out which players fit his scheme. Asked if there were any surprises, he mentioned Anderson. "You don't see a whole bunch of guys who have what he has and the way he tracks the ball down the field," Gase said. "I don't think I've ever been around a player that does it as smooth."
Diehards Line:
As ESPN.com's Rich Cimini noted, Gase has been around some pretty good receivers -- Demaryius Thomas (Broncos), Alshon Jeffery (Chicago Bears) and Jarvis Landry (Dolphins). That's quite a compliment. Gase also said he would like to create some variety in Anderson's routes, allowing him to be more than a one-trick pony. As expected, the Jets are giving Anderson (restricted free agent) a second-round tender, which means a $3.1 million salary on a one-year contract. With his off-the-field issues, it would be unwise to do a long-term deal at this point.
