The Facts: Mariota is heading into the fourth and final season of his rookie contract. He knows the Titans will pick up the fifth-year option at some point this offseason. And he knows a big second contract is likely coming a year from now. But when it comes to the financial part of the game, he’s unconcerned. "Those are things that are outside of my control,” Mariota said this week. “Obviously, there are certain things that you can do to kind of speed up the process, but if I started to concern myself with that, I lose sight of what it means to be a team guy and what it means to put this team first, and whenever that gets done, it will get done, and I just kind of focus on what’s going on the field.
Diehards Line:
Mariota gets a fresh start with a new coaching staff. Even though it will be his third head coach in four years, GM Jon Robinson is banking on a new coach helping Mariota reach his full potential after he slipped backward in 2017. Mariota's touchdown passes were cut in half (26 to 13) from a year ago and he had a career-high 15 interceptions. The Titans report for the start of voluntary offseason workouts under new HC Mike Vrabel on April 9.
