The Facts: Asked if he expects Howard to be better as a receiver in new HC Matt Nagy’s offense, GM Ryan Pace replied: "Matt is going to use all of his backs in that area, so that is a part of Jordan’s game that is going to get utilized. He showed progress there and we expect that to continue."
Diehards Line:
While that would be great, it would be more exciting if Nagy's offense can keep Howard from running into eight-man fronts on the regular. Remember, the star running back recently noted the Bears' offense was too basic and too predictable under John Fox in 2017. With Nagy, who's regarded as a bright offensive mind, at the helm, Howard is expecting change for the better. If part of that is maximizing Howard's skills by including him more as a pass-catcher, that will be great. But getting the most of Howard as a ball carrier would be a great starting point.
