The Facts: New HC Steve Wilks said he had an "in-depth conversation" with Fitzgerald but the veteran WR didn't say whether or not he's playing in 2018. But Wilks added he'd "love" to have Fitzgerald back.
Diehards Line:
Speaking during an impressive introductory press conference, Wilks talked about establishing a culture of winning and it would be a shock if he viewed Fitzgerald's continued presence as part of that. At 34, Fitzgerald proved that he remains an elite receiver following his three most productive seasons in a row over the last three years. He is signed through 2018, but there is no guarantee he returns as he may follow the lead of head coach Bruce Arians and quarterback Carson Palmer and decide to retire. As the Sports Xchange notes, if the Cardinals don't or can't bring back John and Jaron Brown and they lose Fitzgerald, it will be a mega hole that can't be filled. ... We'll be watching this one closely.
