The Facts: NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday that the reinstatement of Gordon 'is not under active consideration' at this time. Speaking to Browns season ticket holders before the final practice open training camp practice, he added, "at least it hasn't made it to my desk yet."
Diehards Line:
Gordon, whose petition for reinstatement from his drug ban was denied three months ago, is eligible to re-apply in September. The Browns still hold Gordon's rights, and can play him this season if Goodell reinstates him. Goodell did so last summer on a conditional basis, but Gordon couldn't adhere to his program and checked himself into inpatient rehab in September. Browns head of football operations Sashi Brown, who addressed the season ticket holders along with Goodell and Jimmy and Dee Haslam, said "we want to better Josh the person first.' Goodell said Gordon has entered the NFL's program, meaning he's working his way toward making it back onto the field. Gordon, the Brown's supplemental pick in 2012, hasn't played December of 2014.
