The Facts: Enunwa, the Jets' No. 1 wide receiver, exited Saturday night's Green and White scrimmage/practice with a non-contact neck injury. The severity of the injury is unclear, HC Todd Bowles said after the scrimmage. Bowles was not sure about how much time Enunwa could miss. A good sign for Enunwa: He walked off the field under his own power, with trainers next to him.
Diehards Line:
Enunwa missed June minicamp with a similar injury, according to Bowles. On Saturday, he got hurt while trying to catch a pass in the end zone, during a 7-on-7 period. He dropped the pass, fell to the turf, and then attempted to get up. He stumbled after taking a step, and fell on his face. Trainers rushed out to examine him. He was not hit by a defender at any point during the play. "[Trainers] didn't give me the nature of it," Bowles said. "They just said it's the same thing he had in the spring. It wasn't severe, but it held him out a little while. I'll see the severity of it [this time] when I go inside [and speak to the trainers more]." For what it's worth, Enunwa's neck injury during spring practices was not serious. Enunwa is the Jets' No. 1 receiver because they cut Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker in the offseason. The Jets have no truly proven receivers besides Enunwa, an ascending player. Losing him would really hurt the Jets.
