The Facts: Bryant walked into Latrobe Memorial Stadium Friday night in his practice gear. He was ready to resume work with his teammates, but as he walked toward the field he was stopped by general manager Kevin Colbert and was told he could not participate.
Diehards Line:
Bryant missed his seventh training camp practice Friday night as the NFL continues to review his conditional reinstatement after a yearlong drug suspension. Mike Tomlin would not say what exactly took place in the minutes it took for the school bus to drive the short distance from Saint Vincent College to the stadium, but the Steelers had to get word from the league in that time that he had not yet met the necessary requirements to return to practice. “I have nothing new on that front,” Tomlin said after a practice. “He’s doing everything he can to cooperate with the New York as are we. We’re just waiting for the final word from those guys.” Earlier Friday a league spokesman said Bryant could practice “once he satisfies requirements” that had to do with him arranging “clinical resources in Pittsburgh.” Friday night’s drama aside it does appear Bryant is close to returning and it appears today could be the day.
