The Facts: Roethlisberger, 35, told the Post-Gazette Friday that retirement remains an option for him after this season, and that his wife, Ashley, would like to see him give up football.
Diehards Line:
In past years, Roethlisberger has talked about playing a lot longer, but he mentioned the possibility of retiring two days after the Steelers season ended with their loss to New England in the AFC championship. He ultimately decided to come back this year but will not commit beyond it. For what it's worth, Roethlisberger insists it was not out of frustration with losing the AFC title game that prompted him to mention a possible retirement two days later. He says he’s in good shape and his arm is fine but just will not commit longer than playing in 2017. ... It's something the Steelers and Dynasty owners need to be mindful of going forward.
