The Facts: The Freeman contract saga -- if one can call it that -- heads into the summer break without a resolution. Approaching the final year of his rookie deal, Freeman has been discussing, but not really demanding, a new deal since NFL Network's Michael Silver broached the topic with Freeman's agent in the days leading up to Super Bowl LI. Freeman was asked about the new pact, which is still apparently in the works. "It's that feeling when you know something special is coming and you're about to be blessed," Freeman said. "It's just an exciting moment in time for me right now."
Diehards Line:
As a fourth-round pick out of Florida State, Freeman is due just under $2 million this year despite two straight 1,000-yard, 11-touchdown seasons. "I'm not rushing it, and I'm not impatient," Freeman said. "I'm just trying to make sure that my business is right as far as being in the best shape of my life. Being healthy, stronger, faster and being better at the same time. ..." As NFL Network's Tiffany Blackmon noted, GM Thomas Dimitroff isn't in any hurry. Freeman has yet to play a game under new offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. There might be a benefit to giving Freeman a few weeks of the regular season before making a move.
