After it was reported the 49ers were ready to "give up" on Hyde and were considering LSU's Leonard Fournette with the No. 2 pick, GM John Lynch was asked today where Hyde stood with the 49ers' new regime. "I think as a player one of the great things about this league and, frankly, what drove me to get back into it is that you're always proving yourself," Lynch said. "Particularly when there is a new regime."
Diehards Line:Lynch didn’t dismiss the report from DraftAnalyst.com's Tony Pauline and said the team was eager to see how Hyde’s skills would translate in HC Kyle Shanahan’s system. “You have these thoughts as to ‘Do these skills translate to what we do?’" Lynch said. "We think he can be a highly productive player, but we’re eager to see. ...” Hyde, a 2014 second-round pick, has 1,791 career yards and has averaged 4.3 yards a carry. He’s missed 14 games in his career due to injuries to his ankle, foot, shoulder and knee. He also left a Week 2 game early in 2015 with a concussion, but did not miss the next week’s game. Last year, Hyde had 988 rushing yards and averaged 4.6 yards a carry in 13 games. ... Stay tuned.
