The Facts:
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Bears are signing Wheaton, formerly of the Steelers.
Diehards Line:
Wheaton, who is a free agent, played in just three games for the Steelers last season with a shoulder injury, which he was placed on injured reserve in November. He had just four catches for 51 yards in 2016. Wheaten had a breakout year in 2015, catching 44 passes for 749 yards and five touchdowns (17.0 yards per reception) as a No. 2 option to Antonio Brown. Wheaton has 107 catches for 1,508 yards and eight touchdowns in four NFL seasons, averaging 14.0 yards per reception. The Bears are looking to add to a receiving corps that lost No. 1 option Alshon Jeffery to the Eagles earlier today.
