The Facts: Jameis Winston made it clear last month that he would love to see free-agent deep threat Jackson in a Bucs uniform. He might just get his wish. NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday that Tampa is planning "to make a strong push" for Jackson, according to a source.
Diehards Line:
The former Eagles and Redskins receiver will be a popular figure in free agency, but Rapoport told NFL Network on Tuesday that the Bucs harbor the "most" interest, saying: "It is real and it is legitimate. ..." The 30-year-old Jackson can still play, leading the NFL last season in yards per catch (17.9) while racking up his fifth career 1,000-yard campaign. He operated as a critical piece in Washington's high-octane offense and would instantly upgrade an already-juicy Bucs attack likely to part ways with 34-year-old receiver Vincent Jackson. With Mike Evans locked in as Tampa's No. 1 wideout, the Bucs would give defenses fits adding Jackson to the mix alongside promising tight end Cameron Brate. Free agency officially kicks off on March 9, but we might have a good idea of Jackson's destination well in advance of Thursday. Stay tuned.
