The Facts: According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, there's talk Cobb could be approached about a pay cut, but the Packers haven't done that with a player since kicker Mason Crosby after his career-worst year in 2012. It's highly unlikely they would cut him outright, but Year 3 of his four-year, $40 million deal could be make or break.
Diehards Line:Cobb still hasn’t lived up to his 2014 season, in part because of injuries. His numbers dropped for the second straight season -- from 91 catches in 2014 to 79 in 2015 to 60 in 2016; from 1,287 yards to 829 to 610; from 12 touchdowns to six to four. Meanwhile, a year removed from missing the entire 2015 season because of a torn ACL, Jordy Nelson exceeded expectations by catching 97 passes for 1,257 yards and a league-high 14 touchdowns. Nelson then made a valiant comeback to play with broken ribs in the NFC title game. Davante Adams also played in pain at the end with a severely sprained ankle, but the young talent jumped ahead of Cobb as Green Bay's second-best pass catcher (75 receptions, 997 yards, 12 touchdowns). In addition, Geronimo Allison showed flashes late in his rookie season of developing into another trusted weapon for Aaron Rodgers. So Cobb needs to pick up the pace a bit.
