The Facts: The Raiders make it official: Cook will start Saturday against the Texans.
Diehards Line:Derek Carr is out with a broken leg and Matt McGloin was ineffective in Denver before getting knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury on a late hit by Jared Crick in the second quarter. So Cook, the rookie who had never dressed for an NFL game before replacing McGloin last week will start in the team's Wild-Card Playoff game. For the record, the Raiders have played roughly five quarters since Carr broke his right fibula. They've been outscored 35-6 in that span. Cook and McGloin threw for 171 yards, a touchdown and an interception on 32 attempts in Denver. The hope for the Raiders has to be that a week of running the first-team offense in practice will help Cook. But expect a more concerted effort to run the ball this week.
