The Facts: According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jets plan to name Smith their new starting QB today.
Diehards Line:
HC Todd Bowles took the QB-change option off the table after Monday night's 28-3 loss to Arizona, declaring that Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starter even though he pulled him for the final eight minutes of garbage time. But he put it back on the table Tuesday. "After the game that's always going to be status quo because I'm never going to tell the media anything before I meet with my coaches and my G.M. and the rest of the staff," Bowles said. "So, everything is status quo until we have our meeting on Monday evening. But [Smith] did show some promise when he was in there. He understood the game plan. He did good for the drive he was in there. ..." Sounds like the change is coming.
