The Facts:
The Los Angeles Rams have locked up Auston to a four-year contract extension. The deal is worth $42 million with $30 million in guarantees. Austin is now under contract for six years.
Austin, the eighth overall pick in 2013, was the Rams' leading receiver last season. He also rushed for four touchdowns and scored on a punt return. He set career highs across the board. Yes, he only had two games with more than 50 receiving yards and none with over 100 but Austin can play multiple positions on the offense. He can be a running back, a return man and of course his primary position of wide receiver. Given space in the open field, Austin can turn a two-yard slant, into a long touchdown. With the QB problems the Rams faced last year, Austin was used in multiple packages across each game. Now, maybe the addition of rookie quarterback Jared Goff helps Austin take the next step in his career.
