The Facts: Gore was hoping to join some truly elite company last season, but he fell just short. And he's not happy about it. Gore, who has eight career 1,000-yard seasons, was hoping to make it nine. That would have put him in the Top 5 in NFL history for career 1,000-yard seasons, behind only Emmitt Smith (with 11) and Walter Payton, Barry Sanders and Curtis Martin (with 10). Instead, Gore ended the year with 967 yards, coming up just short. Asked today how long it took him to get over not rushing for 1,000 yards, Gore answered, "I'm not over it. I'm not going to be over it until I do it."
Diehards Line:At age 32, Gore says he’s increasingly focusing on proper nutrition and taking good care of his body in an effort to make sure he’s in good enough shape for another 1,000-yard season. He also says he’s excited that the Colts used four draft picks on offensive linemen, which he views as a strong sign of a commitment to the running game. As PFT notes, Gore is the NFL’s active leader in rushing yards, with 12,040, and a 1,000-yard season this year would put him into the Top 10 in NFL history. Gore has quietly had one of the most productive careers in NFL history, even if he remains unsatisfied.
