The Facts: According to multiple reports, Keenum signed his tender with the Rams on Monday. That may not guarantee he remains with the team, however.
Diehards Line:
The Rams made it quite clear last week that they are going to be adding their quarterback of the future in the first round of the draft when they shipped a big collection of picks to Tennessee in exchange for the first overall pick. That move came after the team spent the first months of the offseason talking about how comfortable they felt going into next season with Keenum as their starting quarterback. One of the ways they drove that point home was by tendering Keenum as a restricted free agent at the first round level, which meant a team would have to give up a pick at that level to sign Keenum away. To no one’s surprise, Keenum didn’t get any offers with those conditions attached. That said, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport notes that Keenum could be traded now that he's under contract. Failing that, he could be a starter until the Rams deem Carson Wentz or Jared Goff ready to take over the reins of the offense.
