The Facts: After much talk early this offseason about the need to find a true complement to Sammy Watkins – from the general manager to the director of player personnel – it appears Woods will again be the Buffalo Bills' No. 2 wide receiver.
Diehards Line:
Through three seasons, the second-round pick Woods has averaged 51 receptions, 613 yards and four touchdowns per season. The day after the 2015 season ended, he revealed he played 14 games through a torn groin. Although Chris Hogan has moved on to New England, the Bills have collection of vets now after re-signing Leonard Hankerson. But Woods (who called himself a “blocking receiver” in this offense) will probably start again. He’s only 6-foot, 190 pounds, but Woods finds other ways to get open. Former Buffalo WR Eric Moulds cites Woods' “great hands,” adding “he’s strong, he’s physical, he has tools you can’t really teach” – Woods has “a knack for getting open.” Another former Bills great, Andre Reed, told the News Woods is a “great possession guy” who also runs better routes than Watkins. As his past totals suggest, Woods isn't a danger to cut into Watkins' numbers. But a starting role on what could be an improving offense isn't nothing.
