The Facts: NFL Network's Albert Breer reports McCoy will sign with the Redskins on a three-year deal.
Diehards Line:
The former third-round pick will be 30 by opening week but seems to have settled into his role in Washington quite nicely. McCoy only attempted seven passes in 2015 and played in one game. With a hot market for experienced backups, this will be an under-the-radar victory for Washington. The team is just an injury away from spiraling into the same type of uncertainty at quarterback that they've felt for the better part of a decade. McCoy knows the system well, and can prevent that from happening. Kirk Cousins is still on a 1-year franchise tender. ... A former member of the Browns and 49ers, McCoy started four games for the Redskins back in 2014, going 1-3 with 1,057 passing yards, four touchdowns and three picks.
