The Facts: The Browns will pursue Jones in free agency, a league source told Plain Dealer staffer Mary Kay Cabot.
Diehards Line:
Jones, 25, played for Browns coach Hue Jackson in Cincinnati and Jackson would like to bring him to Cleveland as his No. 1 or No. 2 receiver. Jackson also liked Bengals free agent receiver Mohamed Sanu, but Jones has more speed. Last season, coming off foot surgery that cost him all of 2014, Jones caught 65 passes for 816 yard and four TDs in 13 starts. The thinking is that Jones could break out of No. 1 receiver A.J. Green's shadow in Cleveland and establish himself as a Pro Bowl-caliber wideout. Cabot added that Jones (6-2, 198) really likes Jackson, which will be a huge selling point for the Browns. But as one of the top receivers on the market, he'll draw a lot of attention and command a big salary. Teams were permitted to begin negotiating at noon today.
