The Facts: As Hunter looked ahead to the start of camp -- the Titans report on July 30 -- his mindset was clear. “Personally, I don’t feel like I have a chance to have a break now because I have a lot riding on the season and everything,’’ said Hunter, who’s headed into his third NFL season. “I have to get ready. I have to be prepared. I can’t take a break because I have to stay in condition so I’ll be ready to go to help this team.”
Diehards Line:
Hunter hasn’t made a huge contribution during his first two NFL seasons. He's had his moments — two 100-yard games, four games with at least four catches, and an 18.5-yard career average per catch. In two seasons, he’s caught 46 passes for 852 yards and seven touchdowns in 26 games. But the Titans want more, something HC Ken Whisenhunt made clear earlier this offseason. “At some point, you either get it or you won't be in this league anymore,’’ Whisenhunt said of Hunter. “That's the natural order of the NFL. ..." Hunter is motivated, and said he’s up for the challenge. In organized team activities and minicamp, Hunter looked good while working with QB Marcus Mariota. With rookie WR Dorial Green-Beckham, the team’s second round pick in this year’s NFL Draft, generating plenty of attention leading up to this season, some think some of the pressure is off Hunter. One of Hunter’s missions leading up to the season — pack on the pounds. At the end of the June minicamp, he weighed around 205 pounds. The Titans want the 6-foot-4 Hunter at 210 pounds this season.
