The Facts: Free agency enters its sixth week, and Crabtree remains as one of the most-notable unsigned players. Crabtree has taken visits to meet with coaches and officials of the Raiders and Dolphins. Those two teams, along with the Baltimore Ravens, have shown the most interest in signing him, according to a source.
Diehards Line:
As CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco notes, the 49ers have kept the door open for a possible return, general manager Trent Baalke said recently at the NFL owners meetings. But Crabtree appears focused on a fresh start with another organization. A source told Maiocco that Crabtree is willing to wait however long it takes to find a new home. Indeed, the 49ers seemingly replaced Crabtree, as they signed former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith to a five-year, $40 million contract. ... Crabtree, a six-year veteran, was the 49ers’ second-leading receiver last season behind Anquan Boldin. Crabtree caught 68 passes for 698 yards with four touchdowns. He averaged a career-low 10.3 yards per reception.
