The Facts: Jones is well down the road back from the foot and ankle surgeries that sidelined him for the entire season. “I’ve got the green light to do anything and everything I need to do to get back to where I need to be,” Jones said, via the team’s website. “I’ve been surprised at the progress I’ve made in only going on my second week training and at the rate I’m going I’m sure I will be in game shape very soon.”
Diehards Line:
Andy Dalton dropped from 33 touchdown passes in 2013 to 19 scoring strikes last season, a drop that can be attributed to a few different factors. But Jones' absence would be a big one. Remember, Jones caught 10 touchdown passes in 2013 while averaging 14 yards a catch, production that the Bengals couldn’t find from a third receiver playing alongside A.J. Green and Mohamed Sanu in 2014. As PFT's Josh Alper suggests, Jones may not catch 10 touchdown passes again in 2015, but healthy returns from him and tight end Tyler Eifert will up the options on offense for Cincinnati. That should make them a more effective unit.
