The Facts: The Chicago Bears added more depth and competition to their receiving corps Tuesday with the signings of receivers Armanti Edwards and Michael Spurlock.
Diehards Line:The team finished another session of organized team activities Tuesday with nine receivers on the 90-man roster. But that number included Domenik Hixon, who tore his anterior cruciate ligament and won’t be with the team in 2014 after receiving an injury settlement. Edwards spent the 2010-12 seasons with the Panthers and split time last year with the Panthers and Browns. He has six career catches for 131 yards and also has experience as a return specialist. Spurlock is a 31-year-old journeyman whose seven NFL seasons have included stints with seven different teams. His best season was a 17-catch, 250-yard, two-TD campaign in 2010 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spurlock finished last season with the Detroit Lions. The Bears' depth chart at receiver is solidified at the top with Pro Bowlers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery. Marquess Wilson looks to be the frontrunner for the team's No. 3 receiver job with competition coming from Josh Morgan and Chris Williams.
