Jets Re-Sign RB Ty Johnson
(3/23 1:40 PM PT)
The Facts:
The Jets are bringing back another one of their own. New York is re-signing Johnson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Reported by Profootballtalk.com

Johnson appeared in all 17 games for New York last season, playing 16 percent of the offensive snaps. He took 30 carries for 160 yards with a touchdown and also caught 12 passes for 88 yards. Johnson also played 42 percent of the club’s special teams snaps. A Lions sixth-round pick in the 2019 draft, Johnson has been with the Jets since the club claimed him off waivers midway through the 2020 season. Jamison Crowder Signing With Giants
(3/23 12:26 PM PT)
The Facts:
Once again, Crowder is set to play his home games in MetLife Stadium. But he’ll be wearing a different uniform this time around. Per Josina Anderson of CBS Sports, Crowder has agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants.
Reported by Profootballtalk.com
Diehards Line:
Crowder spent the 2022 season with the Bills but appeared in only four games due to injury. He caught six passes for 60 yards in his limited appearances. Before that, Crowder spent three seasons with the Jets. He notably caught 78 passes for 833 yards with six touchdowns for New York in 2019. His production dipped to 51 catches for 447 yards with two TDs in 2021. A fourth-round pick in the 2015 draft, Crowder played his first four seasons with Washington. K.J. Hamler Out Four To Six Months With Torn Pec
(3/23 12:16 PM PT)
The Facts:
Hamler has suffered a significant injury during offseason training. Hamler suffered a partiall torn pectoral and recently underwent surgery, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Reported by Profootballtalk.com
Diehards Line:
It is estimated that Hamler will miss four to six months, which on the short end of that range would mean he’d be ready to star training camp, but at the long end would mean he would be out for the start of the regular season. Hamler’s injury may make the Broncos less likely to trade WR Jerry Jeudy, who had reportedly been the subject of trade discussions, as Denver may decide it doesn’t want to lose any more depth at wide receiver. Hamler has also been mentioned as a potential candidate to get traded, but that now seems highly unlikely. A 2020 second-round draft pick, Hamler has had trouble staying healthy and has missed more games than he has played in his first three NFL seasons. He caught just seven passes for 165 yards last season.

Tony Pollard Signs His Franchise Tag
(3/23 12:00 PM PT)
Diehards Line:
Pollard is due $10.091 million this year. Pollard and the Cowboys now have until July 17 to negotiate a long-term deal. Pollard, a fourth-round pick in the 2019 draft, rushed for 1,007 yards with nine touchdowns and caught 39 passes for 371 yards with three TDs in 2022. He also accounted for 122 yards from scrimmage in Dallas’ two postseason games before suffering a fractured left fibula and a high-ankle sprain in the Divisional Round loss to San Francisco. While Pollard underwent tightrope surgery for the high-ankle sprain, he is expected to be fully healed in time for training camp. In 62 games with six starts, Pollard has rushed for 2,616 yards and 17 touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. He’s also caught 121 passes for 1,008 yards with five TDs. Running backs Josh Jacobs and Saquon Barkley have also been franchise tagged by the Raiders and Giants, respectively.

Foster Moreau Diagnosed With Cancer; TE Stepping Away From Football
(3/22 7:57 PM PT)
The Facts:
Moreau announced Wednesday he has Hodgkin lymphoma and will be stepping away from football. Moreau, 25, tweeted that his cancer diagnosis followed a physical with the New Orleans Saints. "Through somewhat of a miraculous process, this free agency period has been life changing for me," Moreau wrote. "During a routine physical conducted by the Saints' medical team down in New Orleans, I've come to learn that I have Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and will be stepping away from football ... at this time to fight a new opponent: Cancer."
Reported by NFL.com
Diehards Line:
Moreau continued: "I'm grateful for the support and thankful for people who have stood firm with me. There hasn't been a single step I've taken without hundreds of people lighting the path before me, and I will continue to seek their guidance. That being said, I'll go kick this thing's ass and get back to doing what I love! AMDG!" According to the American Cancer Society, the five-year "relative survival rate for all patients diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma is now about 89%." However, the cancer's stage and the person's age impact those rates. Moreau was a fourth-round selection of the Raiders in the 2019 NFL Draft. He played four seasons with the Raiders organization, compiling 91 receptions for 1,107 yards and 12 touchdowns in that time. Following career highs of 33 catches and 420 yards in 2022, Moreau hit the free-agent market this offseason.

Jets Trade WR Elijah Moore To Cleveland Browns
(3/22 3:08 PM PT)
The Facts:
The Cleveland Browns are trading for Moore, sending a second-round draft pick to the New York Jets in exchange for the pass-catcher and a third-rounder, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Wednesday, per sources.
Reported by NFL.com
Diehards Line:
To add to their wide receiver room, the Browns are trading away their top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the No. 42 pick, but getting back the No. 74 pick in the trade, per Rapoport. Moore started 17 games over two seasons with Gang Green, collecting 984 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 80 catches. Moore reportedly asked for a trade during the 2022 season after an alleged “blow up” with then-OC Mike LaFleur. But he ended up staying with the team and was on the field for 66 percent of the team’s offensive snaps. Only Garrett Wilson played more offensive snaps at the receiver position. Still, Moore caught just 37 passes for 446 yards with a touchdown. A second-round pick in 2021, Moore caught 43 passes for 538 yards with five TDs as a rookie. Moore should be a strong complement to Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones at receiver for Cleveland’s offense.

Mecole Hardman Signs With New York Jets
(3/22 3:07 PM PT)
The Facts:
The New York Jets continue to add offensive firepower while they wait for movement on the Aaron Rodgers front. The Jets are signing Hardman. The one-year deal could potentially be worth up to $6.5 million, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Reported by NFL.com
Diehards Line:
Hardman's addition comes on the same day as the Jets are trading receiver Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns. ... Hardman, who turned 25 recently, spent the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Chiefs. The former second-round pick caught 151 passes for 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns, also scoring two TDs as both a runner and a returner in his 57 career games to date. But last season was a humbling one for Hardman as a nagging groin/abdomen injury caused him to miss more than half the regular season and also Super Bowl LVII. Hardman had career lows in receptions (25) and receiving yards (297) and had six TDs (four receiving, two rushing) in eight games (five starts) for Kansas City in 2022. Hardman had the groin surgically repaired in February. The Jets previously signed former Packers WR Allen Lazard to a four-year, $44 million deal this offseason and also have 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, Denzel Mims and others on the roster at wideout. That's plenty of firepower for Rodgers -- or whatever quarterback the Jets end up starting, although some believe Davis' time with the club could be coming to an end.

Austin Hooper Signs With Raiders
(3/22 3:05 PM PT)
Diehards Line:
The 28-year-old Hooper originally entered the NFL as a third-round pick of the Falcons in 2016. He played four years in Atlanta, two in Cleveland and then played last year in Tennessee. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018 and 2019. Hooper is the second tight end the Raiders have signed this week, following the signing of O.J. Howard. They’ve needed to bolster the position since trading tight end Darren Waller to the Giants.

Vikings Sign Former Rams WR Brandon Powell
(3/22 3:03 PM PT)
The Facts:
The Vikings are signing free agent receiver Brandon Powell to a one-year contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Reported by ESPN.com
Diehards Line:
It reunites Powell with Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell, who previously was the Rams’ offensive coordinator. Powell, 27, spent the past two seasons with the Rams. In 2022, he played 17 games with six starts and totaled 24 catches for 156 yards. Powell played 290 snaps on offense and 228 on special teams. The Lions signed Powell as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He played one season for the Lions and spent 2020 with the Falcons. In 44 career games, Powell has 47 receptions for 354 yards and two touchdowns.

Former Browns RB D'Ernest Johnson Signs With Jaguars
(3/22 12:58 PM PT)
The Facts:
Johnson reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, a source tells ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Reported by ESPN.com
Diehards Line:
Johnson went undrafted in 2018 before signing with the Alliance of American Football’s Orlando Apollos. He has been on the Brown’s 53-man roster since 2019. In his first year, the running back wound up playing in 16 games (though starting none), recording six receptions for 71 receiving yards and 21 rushing yards. The 2020 season was more productive in the rushing department. Johnson managed 166 rushing yards (including seven first downs) from 44 attempts, and three receptions with 14 receiving yards. He would follow this up in 2021 with 17 games played (2 started), 534 rushing yards and 24 first downs from 100 rush attempts, three TDs, and 19 receptions for 137 receiving yards. Johnson’s stats dropped again in 2022, with him not starting any of the 15 games that he played. He recorded only 17 rushing yards and one first down from four rush attempts, no TDs, and three receptions for seven receiving yards. He'll join a Jacksonville backfield led by Travis Etienne Jr. with JaMycal Hasty and Snoop Conner providing depth.
