According to reports out of team headquarters, Tony Gonzalez took part in Friday's practice and is expected to start and play against the Chiefs come Sunday.

Asked by KCFX-FM's Bob Gretz how his star tight end, who is listed as questionable this week with a sore ankle, was doing today, Vermeil said: "He’s a little gimpy but I think he’ll be ready."

When Gretz suggested that Gonzalez always seems to find a way to get himself back on the field -- despite injuries -- once game day rolls around, the coach agreed.

"He has a great ability to recover quickly," Vermeil said. "And the number one reason is he just loves the game so much."

Before anybody gets too excited, however, I'll remind you that it remains to be seen what kind of role Gonzalez will actually play this weekend.
