Giants Release Rashad Jennings
Shortly after we learned the Giants were parting ways with wide receiver Victor Cruz, we learned another veteran skill player was being released as well. As ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan first reported, the Giants are also releasing starting running back Rashad Jennings.

Jennings, who turns 32 next month, started 28 games for the Giants over the last two seasons. He averaged just 3.3 yards per carry last season. According to the Sports Xchange, Jennings left too many yards on the field in 2016 season thanks to questionable vision and an inability to cut back on a dime.

He was set to count over $3 million against the salary cap and will save them $2.5 million. Cruz was set to count $9.4 million against the cap and his release freed up $7.5 million in salary-cap space for the Giants so the team gained $10 million in cap room on the two moves combined.

With Jennings no longer on board, fantasy owners should expect Paul Perkins to play a greater role.

Perkins flashed quite a bit of potential and intrigue as a potential starter during his rookie season. According to the Xchange, if he can polish his pass protection duties, the Giants might have something there.

Shane Vereen tried to return from an early-season triceps tear that landed him on injured reserve, but in retrospect, he came back too quickly and retore the muscle. Orleans Darkwa's disappearance from the offense prior to a season-ending leg injury was surprising, but he'll have additional opportunities with Jennings out of the picture.
