Garrett expects McFadden to miss “a couple months” as a result of the injury. As Profootballtalk.com notes, that should allow for first-round pick Ezekiel Elliott to get plenty of reps in this week’s mini-camp and training camp as he tries to solidify himself ahead of McFadden and Alfred Morris at the top of the team’s depth chart.
As NFL.com pointed out, it's easy to forget that McFadden finished fourth in the NFL with 1,089 rushing yards in 2015, which may be more of a testament to Dallas' offensive line than McFadden's efforts.
The real question, of course, is whether the Cowboys have a plan in place to not run Elliott into the ground after just a few seasons?
Either way, it's fair to wonder how involved the team will allow McFadden and Morris to be. It's something fantasy owners will need to watch closely in coming weeks.
