Expect McCoy To Be Busy As A Runner And Receiver
Following up on a previous item. ... As Profootballfocus.com's Mike Clay suggested this week, considering how little Frank Gore was used as a target out of the backfield during his time under current Bills offensive coordinator Greg Roman, LeSean McCoy wasn't expected to play a significant role in the passing game this season.

Clay reminded readers that last season Gore ran a route on 38 percent of the 49ers' pass plays and was the intended target 3 percent of the time. Meanwhile, McCoy ran a route on 54 percent of the Eagles' pass plays, but handled only 6 percent of the targets.

In eight starts this season, McCoy has run 57 percent of the Bills' pass routes and has handled a hefty 15 percent of the team's targets.

According to Clay, that mark is 21 percent during the five full games McCoy and Tyrod Taylor played together. McCoy's team-high 10 targets against New England was his highest total since Week 4 of the 2010 season.

But whether it's as a receiver or runner, McCoy is the key player on offense. Expect Roman to treat him as such in Kansas City.
