Following up on an item in this week's Team Notes. ... Rob Gronkowski became just the fifth tight end in NFL history to reach the 60-touchdown mark with his 25-yard catch-and-run score Sunday night against the Indianapolis Colts.

In a reflection of his dominance, Gronkowski accomplished the 60-touchdown feat faster than any tight end in NFL history, just 70 games.

San Diego's Antonio Gates had previously held the mark for fastest tight end to 60 touchdowns, in 110 games.

According to ESPN.com's Mike Reiss, when asked Thursday about his thoughts of joining Tony Gonzalez (111), Gates (101), Shannon Sharpe (62) and Jerry Smith (60) as the only tight ends in NFL history to record 60 touchdowns, Gronkowski practically blushed.

"I haven't even thought about it," he answered. "A couple people told me about it. It's always a cool honor, but what's always better, what always means more, is getting that win, which we did last Sunday. And that's what the goal is again this week."

As a tight end before his NFL days, Gronkowski naturally watched Gonzalez, Gates and Sharpe.

"Unbelievable players," he said. "Definitely an honor to be in that type of company, for sure."

Of course, much of Gronk's greatness comes from playing in a New England offense that's averaging 4.2 offensive touchdowns per game.

As Profootballfocus.com's Mike Clay notes, that's higher than the 4.0 mark they put up during their record-setting 2007 campaign. Also according to Clay, the Patriots are averaging 6.2 offensive snaps per game in scoring range this season, tops in the NFL. They've scored on 42 percent of the tries, which is third-best.

They've scored on 41 percent of passes (10th-best) and 43 percent of runs (fourth-best).
