Kelly Not Blaming McCoy For Poor Rushing Attack
Following up on an item in this week's Team Notes. ... The Eagles' running game, greatly improved over the previous several weeks, took a step backward against Carolina. But according to Philadelphia Daily News staffer Les Bowen, head coach Chip Kelly suggested Thursday that criticism of LeSean McCoy was unwarranted.

"I think LeSean is doing a good job. Sometimes the blocks aren't there," Kelly said in his final media session before Sunday's visit with the host Green Bay Packers.

McCoy gained just 19 yards on 12 carries against the Panthers.

When a questioner suggested that McCoy was visibly frustrated during the game, and asked if Kelly had talked to him, Kelly said the coordinators and position coaches speak with the players every day.

Kelly said that McCoy, like other Eagles, is much more concerned with winning than with his stats. He said McCoy "has been a workhorse for us. When we get him going, he's been outstanding." Kelly reiterated that McCoy has more carries through nine games this season than last season, when he led the NFL in rushing.

Now he's just got to start doing something with them in time to be of assistance to fantasy owners still in the running for playoff spots -- despite McCoy's shortcomings to date.
