Following up on the ongoing story. ... Matt Schaub said Monday that he is still expecting to be "100 percent ready to go" by the start of training camp after undergoing a minor surgical procedure on his foot.

As NFL.com reminded readers, Schaub had surgery several months ago to repair a Lisfranc injury in his right foot, with a second procedure set for this month.

On Monday, Schaub confirmed that the follow-up procedure went well.

"I had a procedure last week, getting hardware taken out, which is customary for this thing, so just let the incisions heal up and move forward," Schaub said Monday when he reported for voluntary workouts, according to the team's official website.

"I'm right on schedule, because where the hardware removal takes place in this procedure is right where we are, and so from here, we just move forward and just keep going," Schaub said. "But we have a lot of time left to get ready, and there's no doubt I will be ready."

The 30-year-old quarterback said that while "it's hard for me to say when" he'd be fully recovered; he's still feeling confident about being ready by camp.

"All I know is, come time for training camp, I'm going to be 100 percent ready to go and that's all that really matters, in my mind," he said.

Schaub will be entering his ninth season in the league and his sixth as the Texans' starter. Schaub made the Pro Bowl after throwing for 29 touchdowns and a league-leading 4,770 yards in 2009. Last season, he threw for 2,479 yards and 15 touchdowns while leading the Texans to a 7-3 record before the injury ended his year after Week 10.

From a Fantasy perspective, it's worth noting the Texans averaged 27 points a game with Schaub in the lineup -- even with Andre Johnson missing considerable time (due to hamstring injuries to both legs).

Assuming Schaub is unable to take part in OTAs, T.J. Yates will benefit from the additional practice reps -- which, as Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio pointed out, "will make him better prepared in the event of further injury to Schaub."

Yates was 3-4 as a starter, with victories over Atlanta and Cincinnati twice, including the playoffs.
