It's Official: Brett Favre Returns For 2010
The Vikings convinced Brett Favre to return for a 20th NFL season. As NFL Network's Scott Hanson first reported Tuesday afternoon, the veteran signal caller boarded a plane headed to the Twin Cities after three Vikings players, Jared Allen, Steve Hutchinson and Ryan Longwell, went to visit Favre in Mississippi and convince him to return.

Andre Johnson is now the highest paid receiver in the league after signing a two-year contract extension that was worth $38.5 million with $13 million guaranteed, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Chargers Make Gates NFL's Highest-Paid TE
As The National Football Post's Aaron Wilson framed it, "The San Diego Chargers aren't doing any business at this time with wide receiver Vincent Jackson, offensive tackle Marcus McNeill and linebacker Shawne Merriman.

"Their coffers are not closed, though, to six-time Pro Bowl tight end Antonio Gates. ..."

Owens Signs With Bengals; Bryant's Knee An Issue?
As Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio first reported, receiver Terrell Owens has agreed to terms with the Bengals. Both Florio and ESPN insider Adam Schefter are reporting that Owens will receive a base salary of $2 million with the ability to earn up to another $2 million in incentives.

The incentives are said to be based on receptions, yards and touchdowns.

Chris Johnson, Titans Agree To Terms On New Deal
As first reported by Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio, the Tennessee Titans and running back Chris Johnson have agreed to terms on a new contract that solves the financial problems between team and player.

At least for 2010.

According to Florio, the arrangement will pay Johnson more money this year, with no additional years being added to the contract. Johnson currently is signed through 2012. ESPN insider Adam Schefter

Jackson's Suspension Only One Concern With Chargers WR
As ESPN insider Adam Schefter first reported earlier this week, the NFL suspended Pro Bowl wide receiver Vincent Jackson three games for violating the league's personal conduct policy.

The three-game suspension can be reduced upon appeal, but subsequent reports have indicated Jackson doesn't plan to appeal. He pleaded guilty in February to driving under the influence, his second conviction.

The Russell Era Comes To An End In Oakland
In a move that should surprise nobody, the Raiders released former No. 1 overall pick JaMarcus Russell on Thursday, ending a three-year tenure marked by his high salary and unproductive play on the field.

Steven Jackson Coming Off Minor Back Surgery
As St. Louis Post-Dispatch beat writer Jim Thomas first reported Tuesday night, Steven Jackson underwent back surgery in early April to repair a herniated disc he suffered in late November of last season.

"It was a minor procedure," head coach Steve Spagnuolo told Thomas on Tuesday evening. "He feels great. It's really not a big deal."

Favre Must Have Ankle Surgery To Play In 2010
As ESPN.com's Ed Werder first reported this morning, Brett Favre has been informed he requires surgery on his left ankle to play the upcoming season for the Vikings, and the quarterback is deliberating whether to have the procedure or simply to end his 19-year NFL career by retiring.
