Week 9 DFS Flex Plays DraftKings 2016

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal On DraftKings, there is a flex spot which allows you to take different approaches in your lineup construction. Our goal every week is to find you some solid options that fit in the flex position and provide some nice upside. Let’s dive right into some flex targets for this week.

Running Back

Charcandrick West $4,400 vs. San Diego Chargers
With Spencer Ware missing practice all week, West is in line to get the start against the Jaguars this week. He comes at a reasonable price and has a solid matchup. The Jaguars have allowed +1.9 points above expectations to opposing running backs, per Fantasy Labs. They are yielding 99.9 rushing yards per game and have surrendered seven rushing touchdowns, with at least one in each of their last four games. West could see close to, if not more than, 20 touches this week. The Chiefs are 7.5 point favorites at home and are projected to score 25.75 points. This could end up being a favorable game script for West.

Mark Ingram $4,800 at San Francisco 49ers
Ingram got benched last week after fumbling the football and ended up getting negative fantasy points. You might be asking yourself, why on earth I would be considering him then and quite frankly I asked myself the same thing initially, but this is just too good of a matchup to pass up on. The 49ers are giving up 162.4 rushing yards per game and have surrendered 10 rushing touchdowns. They have allowed +3.9 points above expectations to opposing backs. This is the cheapest that Ingram has been all season and while I do believe Tim Hightower will have a role in this offense, I still think Ingram will receive the majority of the work. He is a volatile play, so I am only recommending him in tournaments, but the spot does not get much better than this.

Note: There is some injury news that could open up some value for us this week. Derrick Henry is affordable and could see a heavy workload if DeMarco Murray is limited or sits this game out. Devontae Booker and Carlos Hyde are both questionable, but if they play, they are two backs that can be considered. Being that there is a lot of uncertainty on some of these backs status, I’d thought I’d add a little note on some things to watch for.

Wide Receiver

Donte Moncrief $5,800 at Atlanta Falcons
Moncrief played his first game since Week 2, after missing several weeks with a shoulder injury. He caught four passes for 41 yards on nine targets and scored a touchdown. Going back to last season, Moncrief has scored a touchdown in seven of the last 10 games that both he and Luck have played in. The Packers are giving up 173.7 receiving yards per game and have allowed 10 receiving touchdowns to receivers. Considering the potential game script in this contest, Moncrief could be in for a busy day. He is one of my favorite plays of the week and despite the potential high ownership, I find myself rostering him.

Kenny Britt $4,400 vs. Carolina Panthers
Britt has been receiving a decent amount of targets (6.9 per game) throughout the season. The matchup is also one that favors him as the way to attack the Panthers is through the air. They are yielding 19.4 receptions and 201.4 receiving yards per game and have surrendered nine receiving touchdowns. They have allowed +1.6 points above expectations to opposing receivers. Britt has been somewhat consistent, scoring double-digit fantasy points in all but two games this season and has also displayed his upside as he scored 35.6 fantasy points a couple of weeks back. This could be a spot where the Panthers take an early lead, forcing the Rams to throw the ball, which could turn into targets for Britt.

Tight End

Kyle Rudolph $4,000 vs. Detroit Lions
To no surprise I am choosing the tight end that faces off against the Lions. Detroit has allowed +4.8 points above expectations to tight ends this season and are giving up 64.6 receiving yards per game, while yielding eight touchdowns (most of any team). Rudolph went on a streak where he scored in three straight games, but has cooled off sense, however, the targets remain consistent for him. This is a great matchup and one he should have no trouble exploiting. His price has gone up, but it remains low enough to provide us with some value.
