Week 7 DFS Flex Plays DraftKings 2016

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal On DraftKings, there is a flex spot which allows you to take different approaches in your lineup construction. Our goal every week is to find you some solid options that fit in the flex position and provide some nice upside. Let’s dive right into some flex targets for this week.

Running Back

Jacquizz Rodgers $4,300 at San Francisco 49ers
Doug Martin has been ruled out for this week’s game, so Rodgers is set to get the start once again. Pryor to the bye week, Rodgers started against the Panthers and ran the ball 30 times for 101 yards and also caught five of his six targets for 28 yards, while playing in 93 percent of the offensive snaps. This week that matchup is far easier against the 49ers who are giving up 148.7 rushing yards per game and have surrendered nine rushing touchdowns. They have allowed +3.5 points above expectations to running backs, per Fantasy Labs. The Niners have now yielded at least 174 rushing yards in three consecutive games. At this price Rodgers will be very popular, but it is difficult to dismiss a running back with such high usage in such a favorable matchup.

T.J. Yeldon $4,100 vs. Oakland Raiders
Yeldon is coming off of a disappointing game, but for the most part this season, he has been serviceable. This week he has a great matchup against the Raiders who have allowed +2.6 points above expectations to running backs, per Fantasy Labs. Oakland is giving up 125.2 rushing yards per game and have surrendered five rushing touchdowns. The Raiders are also yielding 4.5 receptions and 43.2 receiving yards per game, along with two receiving touchdowns to running backs. It is something worth pointing out because Yeldon accounts for 13 percent of the target share for the Jaguars, averaging five targets per game. This is a good spot for Yeldon at a reasonable price.

Wide Receiver

Torrey Smith $3,800 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Fair warning, this is a tournament play only because Smith is an extreme volatile play, but one that could smash value with one catch. He is coming off of his best game this season, from a fantasy point standpoint, catching three of his seven targets for 76 yards and a touchdown. This week he faces the Bucs who are giving up 162.4 receiving yards per game and have surrendered nine touchdowns. They have yielded two or more receiving touchdowns in all but one game. The Niners are actually small underdogs in this contest so could be chasing points, forcing them to throw a bit more. With Colin Kaepernick under center and Smith’s ability to stretch the field, these we could see some long pass attempts in this game. The price is right and so is the matchup.

Cameron Meredith $4,700 vs. Green Bay Packers
Typically I do not play a lot volume on slates that begin on Thursday night, but might be making an exception this week, because Meredith plays on Thursday night and he remains underpriced and in a great matchup. The Packer secondary is hurting and it is obvious because they are giving up 188.2 receiving yards per game and have surrendered eight receiving touchdowns to receivers. If you look at their last three games, they have yielded seven of those eight touchdowns. The Bears should be able to gash them through the air. Meredith has received 27 targets in the last two games and has caught 20 passes for 243 yards and a touchdown in that span. He should be the staple of your cash games.

Tight End

Hunter Henry $3,600 at Atlanta Falcons
Henry continues to produce, catching six of his eight targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in last week’s game against the Broncos, while playing in 68 percent of the offensive snaps. He has now scored a touchdown in three consecutive games. Since Week 3, he is averaging six targets, 4.5 receptions, and 72.5 receiving yards per game, and has scored three touchdowns. This is a favorable matchup for him as he faces the Falcons defense that is giving up 73 receiving yards per game and has yielded five touchdowns this season. They have allowed +2.8 points above expectations to tight ends, per Fantasy Labs. The potential game flow is also in his favor as the Chargers are expected to be chasing points against the Falcons.
